Jan. 3 (Bloomberg) — Boeing Co. has called all of its employees in Wichita, Kansas, to a meeting tomorrow as the world’s largest aerospace and defense company considers closing its operations in the area.

The mandatory meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. local time, said Jarrod Bartlett, a Boeing spokesman, declining to discuss the planned contents.

Boeing said in November it would decide by early 2012 whether to shutter facilities, including a military-aircraft plant, as the U.S. Defense Department’s budget tightens. About 2,100 people work for Boeing in Wichita, modifying and upgrading military planes including refueling tankers and B-52 bombers.
